My generation is living in the information age. We can get information from the internet, television, and radio at faster rate than our parents could. Some people believe that too much information is a bad thing. They believe that technology has made us unable to focus, loss our attention spans, and prevents us from learning about the world and people around us. I have to disagree with the people who believe this.
I believe that technology helps me to get along better in the world than those who are older than me. For example, I was in the car with my brother a couple weeks ago and we were lost. My brother, Mike, had taken a wrong turn and we wound up going into Union. He had no idea where were going and I was getting nervous because I thought we'd be lost for a long time. Mike pulled over and used his cell phone to go to Mapquest. He typed in our location and our home address. Mapquest gave him the directions home and we arrived there safely, but late. In the past, people had to either read a map, if they had one, or stop and ask someone on the street for help. With technology, Mike and I received the information we needed to get home safely. We didn't have to talk to a stranger or read a map.
From my experience with my brother, I learned that in this case technology was helpful. I learned a cell phone has another purpose besides just texting my friends. With the technology of a cell phone, people should feel safe if they are lost.
I like how you used the topic of a cell phone and how it can make the world better. The cell phone is mostly used for texting and calling your friends and is most often a distraction and probably the first thing your parents take away when punishing you. That is a great topic. I like how you explained why it was good and not only that but you gave a real life to back up your theory and helped the reader fully understand the post. Nice post Matt though you could improve it by giving a example of a friend to further back up your point otherwise it was a excellent post!
